"Learning how to be kind to ourselves, learning how to respect ourselves, is important. The reason it's important is that, fundamentally, when we look into our own hearts and begin to discover what is confused and what is brilliant, what is bitter and what is sweet, it isn't just ourselves that we're discovering. We're discovering the universe."

Energetic Healing
Reiki
According to the history of Reiki as it has been told, it was rediscovered in the mid 1800's by Dr. Mikao Usui, a Japanese monk educator.
This information comes from in-depth research conducted by Frank Arjava Petter in his book "Reiki Fire" by Lotus Light ~ Shangri-La Publishers © 1997,1998 ~ Twin Lakes, WI.
Reiki is one of the Buddhist offspring of Qi Gong with added Shontoist influence. Qi Gong depicts the teaching of life energy in its original sense. Qi Gong is the study if Qi or vital energy, that circulates in the human body and it has been practiced by the Chinese for thousands of years.
Qi Gong is mastered by many years of practice. Here lies the difference with Reiki. The energy is transferred or made available to the student by initiation, not by long years of practice.
The essential movement of Reiki is touch applied whenever and wherever appropriate.
"Healthcare organizations are beginning to investigate complementary therapies and have endorsed Reiki as a valuable part of their ongoing education for professional staff. These organizations include the following:
Concord Regional VNA Hospice House, Concord, NH, The Medical Center of Central Massachusetts, The Harvard Community Health Plan and others. These are just a few of the many who have participated in an in-service or sent staff for training in Reiki." 1.

What Reiki Is
Reiki is a laying on of hands healing system. It is a precise method for connecting Universal energy with the body's innate powers of healing. It is a powerful, yet gentle, hands on healing art and is a wonderful adjunct to conventional therapeutic modalities.
Reiki fuels the body's homeostatic mechanisms, which are systems of balance in the physical body. In addition to balancing the physical body, Reiki acts on many other levels, including, but not limited to the mental, emotional, and spiritual levels. This life force energy supports optimal development and fulfillment. Reiki promotes the highest healing good for all things.
How the energy is ultimately incorporated into and used by the recipient is determined by the recipient as the energy flows to where it is needed.
Reiki can be very subtle, yet none the less effective in its outcome.
Reiki and Distance Healing
Distance healing or the healing of someone or something that is not physically present has been around since the beginning of time. It has many names, including prayer, distant intentionality, and the non local mind.
Reiki (and Divine Intervention, another healing modalities I practice ) is another form of distance healing and is empowered by all of the above and with and through the energy of a Second Degree (or higher) Reiki Practitioner. The currency, in its most simple form is love and compassion. It is the currency and at the same time the vehicle in which it travels from Practitioner to recipient.
In distance healing the Practitioner holds in his or her minds eye an image or picture of the recipient and pictures the flow of the Reiki energy (or Divine Intervention or other forms of prayer as mentioned below) to that person or place. For me it is an intent or a prayer for healing, given in a quiet contemplative period of time. The average length of a distance healing session varies between a few minutes and an hour.
I have found that my clients benefit most from a distance healing session when they give themselves some time to relax during the scheduled distance healing session and for a few minutes afterward. I have also found that drinking a couple of glasses of water after a session is also beneficial and helps to move the energy through the body to feel more balanced.
In my work with distance healing my prayers may include any of the following as appropriate:
Reiki, Divine Intervention , the Medicine Buddha energy and Mantra, The Prayer Wheel and the Om Mani Padme Hum
Healing sessions are at the request of the recipient. I have had family members come to me asking me to hold a session for this or that family member because they felt that the person would benefit. While that may be true, the nature of healing is that it is always with permission and mindful intent of the recipient. Free will is always honored. The recipient must give permission.
In addition to healing prayers that I can offer, you might also be interested in contacting Unity Online for prayers.
I would be happy to share more information with you about the kinds of healing prayers that I offer.
I am a third degree Reiki Master Teacher in the Usui Reiki Tradition.
Reiki sessions are 1 hour in length.

Divine Intervention
Divine Intervention is where Source (God, Buddha, Higher Power) comes through and the physical and the spiritual take action at the same instant to create a miracle. In other words, Divine Intervention is the phenomenon where tumors may fall to the floor and/or diseases may go into spontaneous remission.
Divine Intervention may be referred to as the loudest, most specific prayer that can call the forces of nature and heaven together, hand in hand. The most intimate connection that one can have with another being on this planet is to hold the space for a split second of heaven to appear in or for someone. As source intervenes in a situation, through a minister or healer, the laws of a larger physics come into play. The possibility that the body may return to it's natural state of wholeness jumps astronomically. At this moment the physical body may surrender to be used to the fullest by Source as the electric and magnetic energies split. When this happens anything that is not vital to the energetic structure of the body appears outside of the body.
Miracles come into many packages. As energetic blockages are removed from the subtle bodies and the physical body, the energy flowing into the natural healing process increases. As a connection to Source that is as "wide as a pencil" is increased to the size of a "two lane highway" the possibilities multiply in quantum leaps. At this point in time what scientists call a "singularity" happens. A shift in some states or in all states occurs. The results can be having nothing happen, small cells like grains of sand or rice appearing or large chunks of matter appearing in this physical plane.
Divine Intervention is a caught teaching and can only be learned by being in the presence of a teacher who has learned from a teacher in a long lineage of healers. The movement of energies on the planet at this time makes classes like this possible.
Divine Intervention is shamanic teaching that comes from Mexico, South America and Brazil.
The current living lineage holder is Starr Fuentes and I have had the honor and privilege of studying with her and Shirley Resler, as well and other teachers in the Divine Intervention Lineage. In addition I have studied with Donna Spring Gulick, an Intuitive Counselor, Spiritual Director, Teacher, Speaker, and Author.
I am an ordained minister in the Divine Intervention Congregations and a practitioner and teacher of Divine Intervention. I’ve witnessed and been part of many miracles during my teaching and healing practice and I give thanks to the wonderful teachers who have guided me along the way.
Testimonial:
In March of this year (2004) I went to see my doctor because I was not well and after several tests I was told I had a growth on my thyroid and that it might be cancer. I was scheduled for more tests, cans, and a biopsy for early April. I called my friend Nellie on March 22nd to tell her what was happening. She was on her way home from training in Divine Intervention. She offered to work with me through distance healing with Divine Intervention. I said, please do. She began on March 22, while on the train on her way home from Texas and continued to work with me through distance healing until I called her on Friday, 16th of April to tell her that I had gone back to the doctors. Not only was there no cancer, they could not find any growths!
