Dark Star Philosophia is a dear, sweet, magical place I visited once upon an October day in 2003. It resides at 14A Old Harbor Square,Rockport, MA, 01966. Telephone: (978) 546 - 3976
I was in the area for a workshop I was co-facilitating and after completing the workshop my husband and I took a little mini vacation before heading home to the Midwest. Part of that included spending time in Rockport, Massachusetts a favorite place from years prior. We decided to take a drive into town from Gloucester where we were staying at a little inn on the water. We made our way through many of the shops and had a great time shopping and buying treasures to bring home.
However the best shop of the day was Dark Star Philosophia. It was one of the last shops we went into. Were greeted as we walked in the door in a most welcome way and when I took off my hat there was even more delight as there was a sense of recognition, of shared community. Gera who is the shop owner was just wonderful. Our mutual warm greeting could have been a felt sense of friendship, a welcome to visitors from another state, or perhaps the tattoo upon my forehead. I lovingly wear the triple Goddess and have done so now for about eight years. It was a rite of passage for me in my early 40's, a connection to what I always knew was true in my soul. A connection to the wisdom of the Goddess. It is also as I have confirmed recently ,a connection to my ancestry. My 10th generation great grandmother and aunt were Mary Towne Esty, and Rebbecca Nurse (they were sisters). These women were strong women and I am proud to be their grand daughter and niece.
In shopping at Dark Star Philosophia I was looking for things to take home for my healing practice and I found many fine and wonderful treasures in Gera's shop. I purchased a beautiful green cloak with the Green Man inside. I wear it to this day. I also purchased a wonderful cloth bag and wall hanging as well beautiful pentagram wall art that hangs on my office wall. There was also an amazing leaf face in a copper color that is also hanging on my wall. I treasure all of these things as they enhance my healing space. If I lived closer I would be a regular visitor to attend events held there and to shop. When the time comes for me to visit New England again I will go back and visit Gera.
If you ever happen to be in the neighborhood, stop by. I know you'll find something you love!
