UPDATE ! ! !
From the Alliance For Natural Health USA
We’re thrilled to announce that today, thanks to your calls and letters, the Senate Food Safety bill (S. 510) will not include those obscene ten-year jail sentences for food and supplement manufacturers who violate complicated FDA rules. Senate offices were deluged with your messages, and the Senate leadership listened to you! See more by Clicking Here
I was doing some reading this evening and this came to my attention.
Senate Bill S 510 Food Safety Modernization Act
Vote is imminent: Would outlaw gardening and saving seeds . . . This bill would effect our local small growers
What actions can we take on this? First, educate yourself. Read the bill yourself. Make your own decision's on how best to address this. Are they really proposing to outlaw gardening and seed saving?
For me, having the information, when it is available, allows me to choose again. I can choose fear, anger, powerlessness, raging at the machine as it were (as some websites might intend), or I can use the information and take that energy and choose something else, compassion, loving kindness or Bodhicitta as the Buddhists call it. One step is still a step and it is all it takes to make a difference. So I know about Bill 510 and I can share that information with others as a way to inform and influence the outcome. I can post it to my blog, which I am doing here, I can share it on facebook which I have already done, and I can talk about it in my community which I will do this weekend.
I am also going to sign a petition and contact my elected officals. Here is a link to a website that writes more about this with a petiton. Click Here And more on the Tester-Hagen amendment Click Here
Blessings,
Nellie
