I want to take a moment this morning to clarify with everyone the intent of WyseWomen Circle. It is a circle that is in support of adult women. The sharing that takes place, varies from meeting to meeting, however the content is centered around adult themes. Our intent, though we share many things, from tears to laughter, is to share our wisdom, strength, and what is right in our worlds. We come to share as women, from all walks of life, and different ages, 18 to 80 (and older). Some of us are older and our kids our grown, some of us are younger with younger children. We come to circle as a space to share and nurture ourselves without our significant others.
In some cases it is one of the few times in our busy weeks that we take time for ourselves - no husbands/partners, our kids at home with another loved one. The things that we share are personal, sometimes painful, and we need that space to be able to share openly, without concern for young ears, minds, and hearts.
I applaud parents who desire to support their children and share what a community of strong, caring, and compassionate women can look like, however the WyseWomen Circle, because it's focus is for adult women, is not that place.
There are lots of wonderful communities for our children and young adults to gather, be that through a local religious or spiritual community, or local parks and recreation or the YMCA. I share this from my heart. The women who come to circle desire to be able to share openly.
I also feel it is important that I share that The WyseWomen Circle is NOT therapy and the things that each women may share are not meant to be taken as advice or a substitution for a professionals care when it might be needed. There are some kinds of pain where caring, competent professionals are needed, in addition to whatever else one might choose to do. Books, DVD's and the like might be wonderful as an aid, however they are NOT a substitute for a caring professional therapist. We are each responsible for our personal well being. I look forward to seeing your smiling faces on Tuesday evening!
Wishing you well and many blessings,
Nellie
